Hard Eight Dark Rye Spirits

Our rye spirit is an unaged whiskey, also known as "white dog" in the bar circuit. SBB's Hard Eight has a strong, clear, spicy rye flavor with a hint of anise. The recipe employs a German grain mash technique used by Koval Distilling in Chicago, and Kothe Distilling in Germany, but the taste comes entirely from the organic, stone ground dark rye flour, grown in Saskatchewan that we get from Bob's Red Mill in Milwaukie, Oregon.

Cocktail Recipes:

After tasting several varieties of strawberries, we chose Hoods for their sweetness and pleasing flavor. The strawberry season, due to the amount of rain and lack of sun during a crucial window of time, was only a few weeks long. Time enough to try a recipe for this liqueur, which we now have available, in limited quantities.
