Our favorite going into the new year-
The important part of this one is to make up the Winter Warmth Syrup while humming the Pogues’ classic. Here’s how to make the syrup-
– Equal parts demerara sugar and water-about 1 cup each
– Half an apple
– Half a pear
– 3 cinnamon sticks
– 3 cloves
– Grate in some nutmeg
– 12 walnuts
boil all this together for about 15 minutes, cool and strain. Will keep a few weeks in the fridge.
For the cocktail-
2 oz whiskey
bitters? sure
1/2 to 3/4 oz of the Winter Warmth, maybe a spoon of Nocino…..
